Just forwarding this on for our Eastern winemakers/hobbyists ... It's been known for a long time that native American grape varieties have innate resistance to root disease brought on by phylloxera. I was reading through some resources recently and found this abstract, which suggests that V. labrusca may have immunity to the pathogenic activity that follows the primary injury caused by the phylloxera aphid. Interesting stuff, if you like this sort of thing.
