Looking for good value is nothing to be ashamed of, Allison. That's something we discuss fairly regularly on the Wine Tasting 101 board thats part of the WLP community here.

Come over and take a look as there are a whole slew of affordable wines being discussed.

Regarding rose', when you come over for a peek at 101 click over to pages 6, 5 and 4 and you will see lots of discussion on some very good (and some not so good) rose'.

Some of my personal faves for every day wines:
Taurino Salice Salentino - Puglia ($10)
Las Rocas - Spain (The '03 is pretty gobby but the '02 is splendid) ($8)
Cave de Tain l'Hermitage Syrah ($8)
'04 Kesseler Estate QbA riesling ($10)
mas de gourgonier - Provence ($12)
Clos La Coutale - Cahors ($12)
Le Pigeolet en Provence, Vin de Pays de Vaucluse ($10)
El Coto crianza - Rioja ($9)
