Not knowing what's available to you makes it a bit tough, but there's a few Spanish reds that seem pretty reliable (and are pretty much available):

Castel de Remei Gotim Bru
Canstano Solanera

I like both of those, and they hover around the $10 mark.

As for whites, I like the Kesseler Rieslings. His Riesling "R" and Esatate QbA are both in the $10 ballpark. Of course they are harder to find. They are also off-dry. I don't know if that's too much sweetness for you.

What are your current selections? That might help.
