I would have been surprised were you tragically disappointed. It's impossible to say for sure what you have and haven't talked yourself into.

This is the one area where true blind tasting is useful.

None of this is meant to discourage your enthusiasm, merely to point out that it might not be the pure beacon of objectivism you might wish it to be. That's OK, but it's important to recognize the existence of predisposition.

(For instance, I don't agree with your description of the "Virginia terroir" -- not based on the evidence of those wines, but because of what those aromas mean in grapes grown elsewhere -- but that's a discussion for another, less enthusiastic time.)
